About this Painting:

Crowe Island was originally named Acadia Island, and the Crowe family owned it for generations. When the only son in the Crowe family, James Crowe, died in 2006, he donated the island to be preserved as a bird sanctuary.  He indicated in his will to have the buildings and boathouse removed so that the island could go back to nature. Now the island is mostly inhabited by Crows and other birds. I stopped to observe the island, while passing by on boat during a stunning sunset, and had a closer look at the area. That moment has inspired many more paintings. I’ve always been a huge fan of Crowe Island, so close to town, but completely wild in nature.
