In every small town, there’s always that special spot where people come together, and in Kenora, for me, it’s the Lake of the Woods Brewing Company. Walking into LOWBrewCo feels like being with family—familiar faces, warm smiles, and a sense of belonging. Whether it’s unwinding after a long week or catching up with friends, this brewery is more than just a place to grab a drink; it’s a hub for connection, conversation, and community.
The brewery itself has a fascinating story. Housed in a historic firehall, it combines local charm with a deep commitment to quality. Its beer is crafted using water straight from Lake of the Woods, making it literally a taste of home. Over the years, they’ve expanded their reach with locations in Warroad, Minnesota, and Winnipeg, and recently opened the Brewers Village right in Kenora—a 20,000-square-foot production facility and gathering space that’s setting a new standard for community hubs.
I’ve been lucky to have become good friends with the owners and to be recognized as someone who also supports this community. They’ve invited me to participate in several meaningful projects, like designing a label for their Women’s Day beer and creating a custom painting for HGTV’s Bryan’s All In, which featured Bryan Baeumler helping transform the Brewers Village into a vibrant summer outdoor space for locals and visitors alike.
I even got to be part of their podcast series, another testament to their innovative ways of connecting people. Every interaction with the LOWBrewCo team reminds me how much they care about fostering community and creating opportunities for collaboration. It’s heartwarming to see a place not only succeed but also uplift the people around it.
Whether you’re there for a pint of their signature Deep 6, a beer that’s literally aged at the bottom of Lake of the Woods, or just for the camaraderie, LOWBrewCo encapsulates what makes Kenora special: community, creativity, and the joy of being part of something bigger than yourself.
