What inspired this painting: I've set up my easel of this island many times over the years... but approaching it head on one evening with the sun lighting it up so brilliantly inspired me to paint it... with the distant shorelines in the background lighting up, and the sun peeking through the clouds to illuminate the rocks and pines. I wanted to portray the smell of rain in the air, and the reflections gently swaying in the water.
