In this 20x36” Original Painting, featuring the reflections of this beautiful Red Boat on Lake of the Woods, is the closest thing to abstract that I have done... saying that, reflections in water ARE an abstraction of real life subjects, and maybe that is what I'm drawn to most. In the water, the boat is free to become something else and lose the confines of structure. Following the rhythms of water makes the truth of what it is evident... but looking simply at the reflections in the gentle sway of the lake, it takes on a personality all of its own. I see a dragon's eye...what do you see? It constantly changes as the water moves... this is my favourite thing to watch in the world! And how can I not paint it!
